"You taught me what faith is"
A year ago, Your whole world changed, Not knowing if you'd ever be the same, But you've taught me what courage means In the story you tell? - Of all that befell you that night, That cold October night, When you awoke in that hospital bed, Not knowing where you were - Only knowing you couldn't move, Half your body you were just Able to, The tears started to fall, Trying to make sense of it all - Your family there by your side, Trying to help you fight, But their prayers could only do so much,
The rest they knew was up to you
-
In that hospital a miracle occurred
The Lord Jesus took your hand
Like only He could..
-
He led you through
by your faith,
the same faith I see shining
now in your eyes,
the faith everyone's seen in you
ever since that night
-
The road ahead was hard,
You knew it when you fell into His arm,
you trusted Him to lift you up
Whenever you fell.
-
Learning to walk all over again,
To do the things you once had been,
Able to do back then,
To do the things you can now..
-
That night,
Still on your mind,
But the road you?ve traveled in this time
Has taught me a thing or two..
Your courage is one of the reasons
Why I love you

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Cor 12:9-10
October 5th 2002... my best friend Sabrina (the beautiful woman in the picture), had a stroke. It left the left side of her body paralyzed, as well as affecting her vision in her right eye. After suffering the stroke she fell on the floor of her bedroom and her mother called for an ambulance, which took her to the hospital, where the doctors told her family and her that she had a stroke. They said she'd never be the same again, they offered her very little hope of regaining the use of her leg so she could walk, it also affected her vocal cords which robbed her of her ability to talk for a short time. But in the deepest valley of her despair, when she was scared and afraid, her whole world crumbling around her.. she reached out, with a broken heart, as well as her broken body, to God, and to God's Son, Jesus Christ and said "Heal me dear Lord or kill me".. God in His mercy did the former, and over the next year she battled, fought, cried, and struggled to overcome the odds.. this is her story and my dedication to her strength and "Never Surrender" attitude.. Sabrina, I love you very much.
And Jesus Answering said to them , Have faith in God Mark 11:22

But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible but not with God. With God all things are possible Matt 19:26
Most people her age would have just given up, and let it beat them but not Sabrina. She was determined to prove the doctors wrong and beat the odds, not only to walk again, but to regain full use of everything and go home. She only remained in the ICU for a couple of days, and she was showing massive improvements, so they moved her upstairs to her own private room where she started sitting up (much to the dismay of the nurses taking care of her), and started doing things for herself. Then after about a week there she went to a rehab hospitial for serious time Physical Therapy. She had to learn to walk all over again, even falling a few time learning how to walk again with a leg brace, and relearning how to use her arm and working on getting her leg stronger so she could walk on it. By the time she went home she did learn how to walk again, much to the surprise of some of the doctors.. But it wasnt always easy, some days she'd completly break down in frustrated tears doubting if she'd ever walk again or do the things she once had done just a few months before. But her family was by her side through it all, helping to be strong on those days. A month later she came home, still not 100% but with the ability to move around on her own by chair, and with her arms back to full strength.
and when He saw her, He said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. Matt 9:22a

For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
Romans 8:24-26

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Phillipians 4:13
Shortly after coming home from the hospital she learned to walk again, it wasnt easy but she was determined to do it again, despite falling down and hurting herself on a few occasions she didnt give in to the pain, or to the difficulty of the challenge that faced her and eventually overcame it and is now walking normally, even jumping (albiet according to her only an inch off the ground). The doctors said she'd never be full strength ever again, that she'd never dance ever again, never walk, possibly never even regian any use in that side of her body. But God was faithful to her through it all, and through His grace, and through her hard work and determination she overcame the odds, and took that first step without any assistance showing the doctors and the world that she could do anything through her faith in herself and through her faith in Christ. The road she traveled was full of pain and tears and setbacks... but she overcame them all, shes still relying on God to heal the rest of her body, but we know He'll do as He promised to do and as long as we keep trusting Him, He'll come through like with everything else..
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
For we walk by faith, not by sight
2 Cor. 4:17 & 2 Cor 5:7
